Dan Ward Leads With the Fewest Illegal Sign Placements
The signs of the political candidates have hit Amherst like a tornado. The law in Amherst is clear. Signs can only be placed on the property of the owner of that property. No signs can be placed from the edge of a sidewalk to the street. This law is never obeyed.
Take a ride around town. You will see more than 50 Jon Powers signs in illegal places, more than 60 signs with the name ‘Alice’ in big letters, are illegally placed. The candidate with the fewest illegally placed signs is Dan Ward.

ALL of Dan Wards signs are placed illegally. How interesting?? I see Mesi has the most. However elections arent won with signs anyhow.

I believe other towns and villages in the area have similar laws. I think Albion (in Orleans County) has such a law. My problem with that law is this:
Who takes care of that plot of land between the sidewalk and the street? If you, as a homeowner, don’t mow that patch of grass, what happens to you? Chances are you will get the codes officer showing up at your home asking you to mow it.
I would rather have a law that states you can’t put yard signs on public property, like at street corners or along the side of the road. I just got back from a trip to LeRoy. I saw Davis and Powers signs scattered through. Powers had some signs on public areas (mostly at intersections) but he also had signs on people’s property. I saw one Davis sign in my travels that was actually in someone’s yard. The rest were on public property. Go figure.
