Press Release: Dan Ward Prepared to Fight For The 61st District
Michele Iannello may have Lackawanna duo Fran Warthing and Mark Poloncarz singing her praises and getting her money, while the New York City Democratic establishment of Malcolm Smith and Jeff Klein throw thousands of dollars at Joe Mesi, their new found supporter, I’ll rely on the voters who actually live and work in the 61st Senate District.
My name is Dan Ward and those who know me know I have a history of stepping up to the plate for them when there is a problem. I don’t just gratuitously chant “I’ll fight for you.” I actually have the political scars that prove I’ve fought for and continue to fight you and your communities.
My opponents talk. They use the words of others. They have ideas. They are the ideas of others. I have no one coaching me and telling me what to say, think and do.
I am the descendant of a family that settled in the Amherst/Tonawanda area back in 1824. Because of my family heritage, my first loyalty is to this area, my constituents, my neighbors, and my family, not Lackawanna, not New York City, and certainly not Albany.
I’m not beholding to anyone. I owe no one. I’ve not promised anything to anybody. I’m not afraid of big words or big problems. I have the education and the ability to deal with the intense pressures of the capitol without some sponsor holding my hand. I’ll vote the interest of the 61st Senate District, not Albany and New York City.
I look forward to a debate with my opponents. I fully expect to be the real candidate for change that shows up in Albany next January.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your public service as a watchful agent over taxpayer financed public resources. Thanks for fighting for Amerstonians time in and time out against the special interests. Thanks for building a quality Amherst for our children and thanks for running to be our next State Senator.
You alone have the appropriate credentials to fight for us in Albany and protect the interests of Western NY. I have received phone calls from your opponents who really do not have the record of accomplishment you possess yet make outrageous claims of being “fighters for change”…really? One is an ex-boxer who left the ring because of bleeding on his brain…the other came to power because of the abuses of the Giambra administration and really has been powerless in the past two years to accomplish much of anything because a Control Board runs the County. She also does not possess even a basic four year degree.
Both of your opponents should think about getting their post-secondary education before running for State Senate and then ask the voters to take a look at what they have to offer.
It is clear that monies flowing into the coffers of your opponents are coming from special interests who are more excited about having weak State Senators to control rather than having independent minded and educated representatives of the people of Senate District 61. The money flowing into their campaigns is coming from people who do not reside in our area for the most part…and legitimate questions need to be raised why that is so and what purpose that serves.
Best of luck in the Primary and General Election.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for running as the independent thinker you are. Thanks for your ability to be intuitive about issues impacting Amherst and always keeping the middle class in mind when you decide issues as a Town Board Member.
Thanks for staying the course and not being bought by the influence peddlers more intent on building their profits without regard to the needs of our area. Thanks for agreeing to run as the only candidate with an appropriate education among the democrats for the position of State Senator and thanks for not being beholden to the Special Interest Monies that your opponents Joe Mesi and Michele Iannello are beholden too.
We need your voice for the 61st Senate District to speak for our needs and our values. We need a strong and vibrant Western NY and we no longer need the false promises of the NYC politicians who only visit us just before an election cycle and then promptly forget us.
We are a hard working and faith filled people representing the melting pot of the world. Our past ethnic ties whether Irish or German or Polish or Italian valued the virtues of hard work and the values of getting a good education.
It is incredible that your two opponents DID NOT FEEL OBTAINING EVEN THE MINIMUM FOUR YEAR DEGREE important to their careers. I suppose Joe’s career as a boxer would not require a basic college education…but what is Michele’s excuse?
Keep working for us Dan…you have my vote and my support in this important race. I do not need Steve Pigeion from West Seneca together with Tom Golisano to tell me who to support or how to vote. I do not need Byron Brown or Antoine Thompson of Malcolm Smith to tell me who to choose from my district either.
