Hope and Peril After an Escape From the Cubicle

For some in today’s economy being your own boss sounds pretty good.  Not having to be “bossed” around, setting your own hours and doing what YOU want to do sounds intriguing.  It can also be overwhelming.  It can easily mean working 24/7 and that’s something most folks don’t comprehend.

“Of businesses that started in the second quarter of 1998, only about 31 percent were in existence seven years later, according to a study published in the Monthly Labor Review. Maybe a little boredom and subjugation aren’t so bad after all.”

“If a business makes it past the first four years, the rate of failure starts to drop significantly, the study found — and one’s decision to escape the confines of the cubicle starts to look like a very good one.”
