What Ever Happened To The Maverick of Yesterday, Dennis Ward

February 4, 2009 9:34 pm

When Steve Pigeon was Chairman of the Erie County Democrats one man would question every move he made.  When Mr. Pigeon had a committee meeting Dennis Ward, the Chairman of the Amherst Democrats, would constantly bug him with questions.

Ward believed Mr. Pigeon was the wrong man for the job.  He was a major pain in Pigeon’s neck but Dennis believed he had the right to ask difficult questions and be a pain – all through Pigeon’s body.

Ward was an excellent example of a MAVERICK trying to bring down part of the establishment in the form of Chairman Pigeon.  Ward believed Pigeon was running the committee as a dictator. Dennis took it upon himself to organize people in the Democratic committee to help him remove this man.

Mr. Pigeon was a man who wouldn’t allow or answer questions if they were seen as questions which would lead to changes in the way he was running the show. Dennis used several different tactics to bring down Pigeon.

Pigeon was finally voted out of office due to the constant attack by Dennis Ward and his group. They brought out several points which made Mr. Pigeon look like he could have been more open with the people and less private in his dealings.

Steve Pigeon was voted out of office. Now Mr. Dennis Ward is deeply entrenched as part of the establishment. He’s been a part of the system for over 25 years.  It may be time to shift gears.
