Rubino’s Want A Piece of the Pie

December 24, 2008 3:18 pm

The Rubino brothers wanted to build a 32-unit condominium development on Campbell Boulevard between Dodge and North French. To do this they needed to receive Town Board approval. The area which they wanted to build their development on is presently zoned as suburban-agricultural and multifamily housing. The Rubino’s would like it to be rezoned MF 5. They have a very good argument.

.

The Rubino’s say our Town Board has made allowances for other developers which allowed those developers to slide through loopholes in the Town’s Master Comprehensive Plan. Rubino’s are asking for similar allowances.

.

The Board, because of much confusion surrounding this project which came mainly from our Legal and Planning Departments, found it hard to truly grasp this project.

Now the Town finds itself in yet another legal battle, which we will probably lose because of actions taken by previous Town Boards. If we lose this court case, our Town Attorney said, ‘It could open the door to a slew of new legal actions against the town regarding zoning matters.” Jones is right.

.

Previous TB’s have given developers Carte Blanche on other projects. Now it’s payback time. Dan Ward is the only member of our present TB who also served on a Giveaway Town Board. Ward’s record shows he never voted for any development.
