Council Member Dan Ward has been working for years to get help for those people who live on main streets in Amherst where snow and ice are dumped by Town plow trunks, so they can then be shoveled again by those same residents. Finally, with the help of Council members Guy Marlette and Mark Manna, steps will be taken to help these citizens .
Supervisor Mohan was worried about being sued by the citizens if something goes wrong. Councilmen Marlette and Manna both had good replies to Mohan’s concerns. Councilman Manna. said, ”In this situation, we should not fear action, we should fear inaction”.
The M & M Council members, Manna and Marlette, put forth a resolution to launch a program that would have the town plow sidewalks on some sections of Maple and Harlem Roads for a one-week trial period to determine sidewalk-clearing costs. The town recently purchased some sidewalk-plowing equipment which would help in cleaning the sidewalks.
