Dr. Barry Weinstein Offers A Plan to Solve Amherst’s Deer Problem
A solution to Amherst deer problem was suggested Monday night at the Town Board meeting. This solution has been around since man began rounding up cattle in pens to become part of our food supply.
Dr. Barry Weinstein put forth a resolution to gather up the deer in pens and use them as a food source. There are several different government agencies which would have to be involved for his plan to go in effect. As quoted in the Buffalo News Dr. Weinstein said, “As a physician I’m not concerned about deer, but deer-vehicle accidents,” Weinstein said. ”The deer are a real menace to driving in Amherst. I mean, they’re cuter than mosquitoes, but just as dangerous.”
This plan has merit but there will be opposition by deer lovers and people who don’t want anything killed.
