Tonight, September 15th, is an important night for all the people of Amherst.  Questions must be asked by the public now before it’s too late concerning the financial shape of our town.  How can we avoid putting ourselves in this hard press position again?

Amherst has serious money trouble no matter what Comptroller Darlene Carroll or Supervisor Mohan tell us.  We should be told exactly how much money we are in the hole. What plans does the Supervisor have to fill this multi-million money gap?  He has suggested the firing of over 70 workers, mostly from the Highway department, as well as all the other departments secretaries included.

The firing of these workers will severely cut down on the services the town can provided. Logic tells us there is always a little fat in every budget. When you cut into the bone of a budget you are committing an act which will enrage the people to demand services not be cut.

If the people don’t raise their voices now, demanding the Town Board to explain what the Supervisor‘s budget will do to the workers of Amherst and the Town of Amherst, there will be no recourse for them later.  Come to the meeting and ask questions.
