The Man Who Never Cared Enough

I have watched the same commercial for Mike Ranzenhofer during the local Channel 2 nightly news.  It starts with a pretty face, which turns out to be Senator Mary Lou Rath, looking at a sheet of paper with Mr. Ranzenhofer.  The only sound heard is a mellow voice speaking in a “CASABLANCA” tone of two lost people.

The ad shows Rath as a mother figure trying to guide Mike, who was chosen by Mary Lou’s colleagues to run for her vacant seat in the State Senate

During the entire ad Ranzenhoffer is silent while the voice “tells” the public Mike, who has been an Erie County Legislator for the last 19 years, has behaved so well he rarely got his name in print.  He voted the party line on taxes and every other Republican action.  He took his legislator paycheck home, in addition to collecting his check as a lawyer along with other resources which paid him well.

If every decent Republican votes for “SILENT MIKE” to sit in the State Senate and only vote the party line, then the Party bosses chose the right man, Mike Ranzenhofer.  The voters who vote for Mike will get a man who hasn’t done anything to get jobs back in Amherst or promoted any ideas to help Amherst start a rebirth.

What he HAS done is he made statements from the old 1920 Republican hand book.  He has said he hasn’t voted for tax increases, and he hasn’t for 19 years in the Legislature, nor did he ever vote for any progressive movement to get people decent training.

Mike surely likes the word ” never.”
