Kryzan To Opponents: Let’s Debate

August 9, 2008 7:36 pm

NY – Today Alice Kryzan, candidate for Congress in New York’s 26th District, called on primary opponents Jack Davis and Jon Powers to agree to debates in Monroe and Erie Counties that include voter participation. In her letter to Davis and Powers, Kryzan reiterated her commitment to put voters first in this election saying:“It is important that we work to ensure that as many voters as possible have the opportunity to participate in a conversation about the challenges facing Western New York and the country and the solutions we offer.”

Kryzan noted that there is a debate scheduled for September 2nd at the SUNY Geneseo campus auditorium and a candidates’ forum scheduled for August 31st on WBEN930’s The Hardline with Kevin Hardwick radio show, but called specifically for additional venues that would reach more voters and allow for greater voter participation.

“These will be great opportunities for us to communicate with voters. However, these forums will not provide most district voters with the opportunity to directly ask questions of the candidates.”

Kryzan is proposing that the campaigns work together to secure a debate site in Monroe County and in Erie County over the next four weeks. She concluded her letter by saying:

“Time is running short, but I believe strongly that the additional public debates I propose are the best way to make clear where each of us stands on the economy, healthcare, the environment, the war, education and other issues of concern to the voters of the 26th.”
