EDITORIAL: $60 To Fill Your Gas Tank, WHY ?

March 7, 2008 5:06 pm

WHY? WHY?  Why is gasoline costing the public so much money ? There have to be some clear cut reasons.  Is there a shortage of oil in the world?  The answer is, NO, also the world’s oil companies are making profits in the billions.

After looking at these two facts the average citizen must say to himself, “There must be other reasons beyond human understanding.  There is enough oil and the people in charge are making billions.  Then why is the cost of gasoline so expensive?”

Is it the taxes our state, and county tack on gas which makes it so astronomically high?  That is part of the answer but what are the bigger reasons?

As a resident of Amherst I would like your input.  Why do YOU believe gasoline prices are so high?
