Benderson’s “Island of the Elite” Will be a Nice Place to Visit

March 5, 2008 9:25 pm

On a cloudy day, it takes time for the light to shine through.  It now has for me. The Benderson elite Shooting Club property,  on Maple Rd is exactly what the people from the Benderson Corporation have said it was going to be…  A place where there  will be only upscale stores, upscale restaurants, upscale boutiques, upscale food stores, upscale apartments and an upscale hotel.

Everything in this elite plaza is for the upscale people of Amherst,  or the surrounding areas.  It is a place for those who have the resourses to utilizes the offerings of this type of plaza.

Curiosity, in the beginning,  will bring the average citizen to visit this island-of-the posh to view how the elite people have such an advantage over the average person.   There are enough people, in our area,  who will come to this elite “Island of Upscale..”  but…will soon return to their favorite restaurants and shopping places they frequented before the birth of Benderson’s upscale plaza of everything..

They will  discover, there isn’t much difference in these stores from what is already available..except the cost…and end their visits.   The merchants will leave for greener pastures…and our Town will be left with more vacant store fronts

The primary users of Town Center will be UB students and faculty. You will find coffee shops, fast food chains, a movie house, bike repair, average gift shops, a hotel for visitors of students or conferences. Sure you may find as an example “don’t think that Subway will close the Sheridan restaurant just becasuse they put one up in Town Center. The success of Town Center is assusred because because UB has plans to increase enrolement to over 9,000 in the next few years. Local people will come too just to socialize or come to the movie which is close for them.
