HAVE AMHERST PERSONNEL BEEN ACCEPTING GIFTS AND TRIPS FROM OUR VENDORS ?

Several people have asked me about certain Town personnel asking for and receiving gifts from Town vendors. The cost of some of these gifts far surpasses the allotted amount money of $75 a year the State law allows.
The gifts being discussed range from tickets to sporting events, to trips to resorts paid for by vendors who presently serve Amherst, are vendors we have used in the past, or vendors who are being considered in the near future.
Therefore the questions below are being asked of Supervisor Mohan:

If it is proven Amherst’s workers have received gifts from vendors we are presently dealing with, have worked with in the past or are going to be used in the near future, will criminal charges to brought against those workers by your office and the names given to the DA to investigate?
If the charges are found to be true will you fire them immediately as you have stated several times?
These questions will be delivered in person to Supervisor Satish on 1/10/08. I will post his reply on this site immediately after.
