Amherst’s Highway Superintendent, Bob Anderson, has committed a serious breach of integrity. He has displayed a lack of loyalty to his workers.

When Bob Anderson won the race for Highway Superintendent the workers at the Highway Department were hopeful. They felt he would be a fair and just leader.

When people work in the same place for years and do a good job, they feel that if job openings occur they should be considered.

When Bob Anderson was elected to the position of Highway Superintendent he chose Joe Speth to be his Deputy Superintendent. Speth had never worked in the Highway Department in his life. This was a slap in the face of every man and women in the Highway Department. His work history showed that he had been given patronage jobs by the Republican Party most of his adult life.

No matter what Bob Anderson has done in the last four years as Highway Superintendent, giving in to the Republican bosses by hiring this man isn’t repairable or forgivable. His cowardly action must be corrected in the upcoming election. His disgraceful show of a lack of honor, loyalty and respect for his own workers has made him unworthy to continue as the Town’s Highway Superintendent.
