WARD DENOUNCES MOHAN STEALTH PAY GRAB!
Amherst Town Councilman Daniel J. Ward has denounced a resolution recently introduced by fellow Amherst Councilman, and Republican candidate for Erie County Clerk, William O’Loughlin. O’Loughlin’s resolution would amend the Town of Amherst’s 2008 budget to raise the salary of the Town Supervisor by $25,000, or by 33 1/3 % said Ward. “This is nothing but a sneaky Republican raid on the Town treasury,” said Ward. “O’Loughlin’s sordid attempt to raise the Supervisor’s salary to do Mr. Mohan’s bidding flies in the face of any Conservative party principles I know of, and Mr. O’Loughlin and Mr. Mohan are always touting their alleged conservatism. This sounds like a tax-and-spend liberal! Worse, Mohan, is now attempting to orchestrate this outlandish spending request for his own self-aggrandizement – all this from another alleged, self-styled ‘conservative’, who once claimed he would serve for a dollar a year. Now this phony conservative wants a 33 1/3 % salary increase! For what? It couldn’t be his failure to cut taxes! It couldn’t be his increased cost by maladministration! It couldn’t be his failure to cut spending! This backdoor, surreptitious attempt at a pay grab for an undeserving supervisor, by an outgoing lame duck is outrageous, and should be either immediately withdrawn or defeated, as well as that for the Town Clerk. Everyone else’s more moderate salaries are remaining the same; this is goal enough for these offices too,” said Ward.
